# Plug-In Energy — verified site summary Last reviewed: 12 October 2026. Plug-In Energy is the trading style of Plug In Battery Ltd (company 17134171). The website markets plug-in solar, batteries and related energy equipment as sales agent for PowerXpress LTD. PowerXpress is the product seller, receives customer payment, fulfils the order and supports customers after purchase. ## Product categories ### Plug-in solar Compliant solar-only plug-in products have been legal in Great Britain since 27 August 2026 (SI 2026/848, following the government's 24 March 2026 announcement). A qualifying product limits AC output into the home to 800 W and uses the required product protections. Customers must follow the supplied instructions and required free Distribution Network Operator notification within 28 days (for example via myplugin.solar). The solar rules do not extend to batteries. The current shop includes a 920 W panel kit with an 800 W micro-inverter from £599. The panel wattage and AC output are different measurements. Typical generation is about 700 kWh a year; PVGIS (EU JRC) gives about 650 kWh for an upright south balcony and about 890 kWh for a south 35° tilt in Birmingham. Most homes without a battery use around 40–60% of it directly. ### Battery used as a power station A suitable battery may be charged from a normal wall socket and used to power appliances connected to the battery's own outlet. This does not feed battery energy into fixed household wiring. Suitable appliances depend on the exact outlet's continuous and start-up surge ratings. Examples may include refrigeration, network equipment, a home office, aquarium circulation equipment and heating controls. ### Professionally installed battery Where the exact battery supports a hardwired configuration and the property qualifies, a qualified installer can connect it as a conventional household battery. The survey confirms product version, consumer unit, cable route, network process, installed output and any separate backup equipment. Professional installation must not be described with one universal output figure. ### Future household-wiring discharge through a plug The 2026 solar-only rules do not approve self-installed battery discharge into household wiring. Hardware described as future-ready is not guaranteed to receive future certification or approval, and a software update alone may not be sufficient. ## Current battery range - Fox ESS Mini Qube: catalogue capacities from 2.11 kWh to 10.55 kWh; from £999. Manufacturer material reviewed for the represented model states 800 W continuous AC output and an appliance outlet up to 1.2 kW. The retrieved document did not establish a universal hardwired output or UK approval route. - MARSTEK VENUS-E: 5.12 kWh; £1,499. Manufacturer material states a 2.5 kVA rated backup outlet and 3.5 kVA for 10 seconds. Grid-connected mode and backup outlet ratings must not be treated as the same figure; whole-home backup requires separate equipment. - AEG AS-BBL09: pre-order when shown as available. Manufacturer material states 2.4 kW off-grid continuous output and 3.6 kW for five seconds. The 3.6 kW figure is not continuous. The live product page and manufacturer documentation are authoritative for current price, stock, capacity, warranty and model version. ## Savings method Savings come from moving energy from a cheaper period to a more expensive period, or using eligible solar energy later. Calculators model half-hourly demand, tariffs, battery capacity, power limits and losses. A result is achievable only when a suitable appliance load or qualifying installed load can use the modelled energy. Results are estimates and are not guaranteed. ## Canonical pages - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/plug-in-solar-panels-uk — solar buying and legal hub - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/balcony-solar-panels-uk — balcony mounting guide - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/blog/g98-plug-in-solar-notification-uk — network operator registration - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/blog/is-plug-in-solar-legal-uk — short solar legality answer - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/blog/are-plug-in-batteries-legal-uk — current battery uses and legal distinction - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/plug-in-home-battery-uk — battery buying page - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/installation — professional installation process - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/savings-calculator — half-hourly savings estimate - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/terms — customer terms - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/returns — cancellation and returns - https://plugin-energy.co.uk/shipping — delivery information ## Customer terms All displayed customer prices are in GBP and VAT-inclusive.
